New Board Members

Judy Miles and Pastor Mark Newman have recently joined the board of the North Curry Families’ and Children’s Center.  Miles is currently the teacher for the South Coast Head Start program located in Port Orford.  She was past Director of the Port Orford Community  Child Care Center and has her AA degree.  Miles has volunteered many hours in the public schools and in local sports programs.  Miles is the parent of two sons and a foster child.  She states, “I am committed to helping parents realize the joys and privilege of spending quality time with their children even during the demands of every day living”.  Miles has worked with NCFCC in the past and is most interested in the work done through the Parents Unite program.

Pastor Mark Newman was a chemistry major in college and then decided to be a pastor and went on to earn his master’s degree.  He worked briefly in insurance while interning at a church focusing on youth work.  He then was hired to work with teenagers and he also supervised all the youth and children’s workers.  He has been serving as the Pastor of First Community Church for the past ten years.  Newman is most interested in children’s enrichment with increased exposure to art, drama and additional education.  He also states that he has a particular interest in assistance for poor families.  Mark Newman and Judy Miles both work each year at Camp Fircroft up Langlois Mountain. They are warmly welcomed by long time board members Larry Blount, Laurie Feldhaus and Lynne Meininger.  If you have questions about this or any of the programs of NCFCC, call NCFCC Director Tere Tronson at (541) 332-1042.
