RAD
is an outdoor program that provides leadership training
for middle and high school students in the outdoors using experiential
learning and outdoor education. The program contains a community service
component, which develops essential life skills and provides healthy
opportuntiies for the community and visitors to enjoy, understand
and protect our natural environment. Cathy Boden is the RAD Coordinator.
John Shipp also serves as a Outdoor Consultant and Leader for this
program.
Hiking Guide Book to Curry County project: This was a special
project of the RAD group, done with federal funding. Cathy Boden and
Ann Vileisis, project coordinators worked with high school students
to hike and select various hikes in all three areas of Curry county.
The students did all the research on general
forest education topics like geology, history, ferns, trees, fire ecology,
weather etc. The guidebook was completed in September
of 2004. For more information and a sample chapter go to RADVentures.org.
